Peer Review Process

Jurnal Syntax Imperatif: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Sosial is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. Every submitted manuscript is evaluated by at least two reviewers of similar expertise to the author to ensure quality, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope.

The peer review process is carried out in the following 9 steps:

1. Submission of Paper

The corresponding or submitting author submits the paper through the online system (OJS). To facilitate authors, submissions via email are also temporarily accepted.

2. Editorial Office Assessment

The editorial team checks if the paper fits the journal's focus and scope, meets the formatting requirements, and contains sufficient quality and originality. Papers that pass this stage will be checked using Turnitin for potential plagiarism.

3. Appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief reviews whether the manuscript is suitable for peer review based on its contribution, originality, and relevance. If not, the manuscript may be desk-rejected.

4. Invitation to Reviewers

Appropriate reviewers are selected based on expertise and lack of conflicts of interest. The review process follows a double-blind system: reviewers do not know the authors' identities and vice versa. The journal covers a wide range of disciplines including social sciences, education, health sciences, philosophy, economics, engineering, and others.

5. Response to Invitations

Invited reviewers assess their availability and relevance to the topic. They may accept or decline the invitation. If declining, they are encouraged to suggest alternative reviewers.

6. Review is Conducted

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript in detail, providing comments and a recommendation: accept, reject, or revise (major/minor). Their reports are submitted to the editorial team.

7. Journal Evaluates the Reviews

The Editor-in-Chief and handling editor consider all reviewer feedback before making a final decision. In case of conflicting reviews, an additional reviewer may be invited.

8. The Decision is Communicated

The editor sends a decision letter to the corresponding author, including anonymous reviewer comments. Reviewers are also informed of the outcome.

9. Final Steps

If accepted, the manuscript proceeds to copy-editing. If revisions are required, the author is expected to revise and resubmit the manuscript. Depending on the nature of the revision, the updated manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers or reviewed solely by the editor.

Once approved, the final version is published online and made freely available as a downloadable PDF.
