Peer Review Process

Jurnal Syntax Imperatif: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Sosial is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. Every submitted manuscript is evaluated by at least two reviewers with relevant expertise to ensure quality, originality, and alignment with the journal's scope.

The peer review process is conducted in the following 9 steps:

  1. Submission of Paper
The corresponding or submitting author submits the paper through the online system (OJS). To assist authors, email submissions are temporarily accepted.

  2. Editorial Office Assessment
The editorial team checks whether the paper fits the journal’s focus and scope, adheres to formatting guidelines, and demonstrates sufficient quality and originality. Submissions that pass this stage are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin.

  3. Appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief evaluates whether the manuscript is suitable for peer review based on its contribution, originality, and relevance. If not, it may be desk-rejected.

  4. Invitation to Reviewers
Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise and absence of conflicts of interest. The double-blind process ensures that neither authors nor reviewers know each other's identities.

  5. Response to Invitations
Invited reviewers may accept or decline based on availability and relevance. Those who decline are encouraged to suggest alternative reviewers.

  6. Review is Conducted
Reviewers assess the manuscript and provide detailed comments and recommendations: accept, reject, or request revision (major/minor). Reviews are submitted to the editor.

  7. Journal Evaluates the Reviews
The Editor-in-Chief and handling editor assess the reviewer feedback to reach a final decision. If reviews are contradictory, additional reviewers may be consulted.

  8. The Decision is Communicated
A decision letter is sent to the corresponding author, including anonymous reviewer comments. Reviewers are informed of the outcome.

  9. Final Steps
If accepted, the manuscript proceeds to copy-editing. If revisions are needed, the author is expected to revise and resubmit. The revised manuscript may be reassessed by the same reviewers or by the editor.

Once finalized, the article is published online and made freely available as a downloadable PDF.
