Publication Ethic

Jurnal Syntax Imperatif: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Sosial publishes scientific articles in the fields of social sciences and education. Published articles include original research, scientific studies, or critical and comprehensive literature reviews on current and important issues, as well as scientific book reviews.

This ethics statement outlines the expected ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editorial board members, reviewers, and the publisher.

Ethical Guidelines for Publication

Publishing an article in Jurnal Syntax Imperatif: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Sosial is an essential contribution to the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Therefore, high standards of ethical behavior are expected from all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the public.

Editorial Responsibilities

1. Decision to Publish

Editors are responsible for deciding which of the submitted articles should be published. They must consider the significance, originality, and clarity of the article and its relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors are guided by the editorial policy and constrained by legal requirements related to defamation, copyright, and plagiarism. Editors may consult with peer reviewers or other editors in making publication decisions.

2. Fairness

Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their academic merit, without regard to the authors' race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political views.

3. Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, other editorial board members, or the publisher, as appropriate.

4. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript in their own research without the author’s written consent.

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Contribution to Editorial Decision: Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through editorial communication.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, and personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers must identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors.
