Praktik Literasi Digital Mahasiswa Generasi Z dalam Penggunaan Media Sosial

Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini mengeksplorasi praktik literasi digital mahasiswa Generasi Z dalam penggunaan media sosial di Universitas Ibnu Sina Batam. Menggunakan wawancara mendalam dengan 15 informan, focus group discussion dengan 4 kelompok, dan etnografi digital melalui observasi aktivitas media sosial, penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bagaimana mahasiswa menavigasi, mengevaluasi, membuat, dan membagikan konten digital. Temuan mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa menunjukkan keterampilan teknis yang tinggi dalam mengoperasikan berbagai platform media sosial, khususnya Instagram, TikTok, dan WhatsApp, serta menunjukkan kreativitas dalam produksi konten. Namun, literasi informasi kritis masih lemah, dengan mahasiswa mengandalkan indikator superfisial seperti likes dan followers untuk menilai kredibilitas informasi. Lima tema utama muncul: keterlibatan digital yang aktif-kreatif, kesenjangan literasi informasi kritis, paradoks kesadaran privasi digital, pembelajaran digital informal berbasis peer, dan negosiasi identitas serta autentisitas digital. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pemahaman tentang sifat kontekstual dan bernuansa dari literasi digital Generasi Z di wilayah Batam dan memberikan rekomendasi untuk mengembangkan program pendidikan literasi digital kritis di perguruan tinggi
